I just joined - when is my first match?

Your wrestler has been placed into SHOOTCAMP, our training facility for newcomers. His first match will take place at the next SHOOTCAMP house shows, which happen at approximately 12 PM MTN time EVERYDAY. There is a clock across the bottom of the page if you are in another time zone. Your first bout will happen at the next showtime.

Who am I going to fight?

In SHOOTCAMP, you do not have much of a choice. Your character will be paired up against the wrestler either directly above you or directly below you each day as you try to learn the ropes of the game including how to roleplay and how to create an arsenal.

How are the results determined?

Matches are determined by three (3) key attributes that make up your wrestler's "strategy": ARSENAL, STYLE, and ABILITIES.

Your ARSENAL is a collection of 15 unique wrestling moves from the entire move list of 75. Each move is of one (1) particular style type and is scored from 1 to 25 points.

Your STYLE is the distribution of 10 points (same for everyone) over three (3) style categories: Power, Science, and Dexterity. The more points you have in a particular style, the more proficient you are at executing moves of that style.

ABILITIES are the six (6) categories (Offense, Defense, Stamina, Conditioning, Cheating, and Tag Team) where you distribute your total experience points (XP). Everyone starts at 20 XPs but wrestlers gain addition XPs at different rates depending on success. The maximum XP level is 50 and the maximum score in each category is 10 for the major abilities (Offense, Defense, Stamina, Conditioning) and 5 for the minor abilities (Cheating and Tag Teams).

How do I win more matches?

To maximize your chance for victory follow these rules:

  • Have reasonable minimums in EACH of your major ability catagories (Offense, Defense, Stamina, Conditioning). The recommended minimum is 4 points in each of these categories. Only use the tag team category if your wrestler is on a tag team and you place importance on those matches. Do not load up on cheating until you have firmly cemented the major categories.

  • Study the moves. The moves bounce around but there are some patterns to detect. Try to determine what the best moves (25 is the top score) are going to be for the next month. Changing your moves every cycle, if done right, should yield greater results than just sticking with one arsenal. Be sure to check the arsenal scores on the rankings page to see how your wrestler is doing comparatively.

  • Choose the best possible moves for your style. Ideally, you want to pick one and a half (1.5) moves of a particular style per style point and you want those moves to be the best scoring (closest to 25) of the bunch. For instance, if you have a Power style score of 4, then you would want to try and get the six (6) best Power moves (scores 20-25).

  • Follow the arsenal template. Part of the strategy of picking your arsenal is to place the moves that fit your wrestler's abilities in order from most points to least, from 25 on down. In the arsenal modify screen, you will see a template that is specially constructed for your wrestler's abilities. Follow this model and try to judge which moves will be the most damaging next month.

  • Increase your Experience Points, and thus your abilities, by increasing your Ranking Points. Your Ranking Points determine whether you gain an extra Experience Point or not for a given cycle. To maximize your Ranking Points be sure to cut 1 promo a week for each of your wrestlers and promo-vote at least 5 times a week to give your wrestler his best shot at getting his full 100 monthly ranking points.

How does roleplaying affect my wrestler?

When you cut promos with your wrestler during the week, they are eligible to be voted on by fellow players (you cannot vote for your own promo) on the weekends. The scoring of promos, based on the peer voting, contribute directly to your wrestler's roleplaying score, which helps your wrestler move up in the rankings and gain experience.

Furthermore, wrestler Charisma is calculated using your current and past roleplay scores and that score is used to determine the damage caused by the wrestler's comeback or finishing move when they are applied in house show matches. So, roleplaying can directly affect your wrestler's day-to-day match performance.

How do I get on a PPV or other league event?

League promoters and their office choose the card on the PPVs and TV shows based on things such as wrestler rank, frequency and quality of roleplaying, and the reliability and cooperation of the player. League officials try to be as fair as possible but there is no way that everyone can get on every card due to the size of the rosters. The best ways to improve your chances are to climb the rankings and win titles, cut decent promos, and/or have a really good feud.

How do I get a title shot?

In Shootcamp there are NO official titles, as it is not an actual league, but rather a "training facility" where you learn the Shootclub system. Once you transfer into an actual league, either new or established, you have the opportunity to win championships with your wrestler.

All new leagues start off with all their titles vacant. At the end of the first week of action, a battle royal with the top 20 wrestlers is held to determine the first Television champion. At the end of the first week of the second month, two single elimination tournaments are held where the top 16 wrestlers fight it out for the Heavyweight championship and the top 16 teams (or as many teams as there are) go for the tag team titles.

As far as established leagues, while it is entirely possible for a new wrestler to get a title shot 2 months in, it is not very likely. Title shots are only given to the TOP 4 contenders to each belt during a month (TOP 5 if there are 5 weeks in that month). The contenders are determined by ranking points and the only way to get into contention is to win and climb the rankings.

Each eligible wrestler gets only 1 set of title shots during a given month, unless their feud happens to be with a current champion. Here are the rules for the title hierarchy:

  • The SWA World Champion will face the TOP 4-5 Wrestlers in Shootclub based on Ranking Points.

  • The SWA U.S. Champion will face the TOP 4-5 Wrestlers in U.S. territories not already going for the World Title and have 35XP or less.

  • The SWA Internation Champion will face the TOP 4-5 Wrestlers in International territories not already going for the World Title and have 35XP or less.

  • The SWA Divisional Titles (Women's, Cruiserweight, Hardcore and Strong Style) face the top wrestlers (based on Charisma) in the SWA that choose to go after a divisional title and thus give up an opportunity to fight their league's Heavyweight or Television champions.

  • A league Heavyweight Champion will face the TOP wrestlers in their league that do not choose to explicitly forfeit their Heavyweight title shot.

  • A league Television Champion will face the TOP wrestlers in their league that do not have title shots with the Heavyweight Champion and have not chosen to explicitly forfeit their Television title shot.

Conversely, League Promoter Titles are established and determined solely and completely by the League Office of your league. Most take into consideration that same factors mentioned for getting on pay-per-views and TV shows.

Why do we have to pay? (Can I play for free?)

Shootclub costs both money and time to run, month in and month out. Not only does the server and bandwidth needed to run cost money, but the time needed to run a complicated game like Shootclub is very demanding. This site COULD NOT be run as a hobby - no way, no how - because of the intense effort needed on a daily basis to keep it operational. Because of this, we need to charge for our time.

Can you play for free? Yes, you can try Shootclub for nearly 6 months completely for free without obligation by using Shootcamp and Academy leagues such as Shootcamp Wrestling (SCW). Shootcamp is described as a "training facility" but it is really a holding area where wrestlers go to wait for the next cycle to begin. During that time in Shootcamp, players can learn the ropes about how the arsenal and promo system works while scoping out all of the leagues trying to decide where to go.

Shootcamp Wrestling (SCW), Shootcamp International (SCI), and other Academy level leagues are full-fledged, but free, leagues with titles and ranking points. Wrestlers can stay in Academy leagues for 4 months before having to go to one of our "pay" leagues. If you like the game, we hope that you will stay with us after your time in Shootcamp and the Academy leagues has expired. If you don't like the game enough to pay for it, then you are under no obligation to do so. Just simply never come back and we will never bug you to play again.

How do you become a league promoter? (Can I get my own league to promote?)

Aside from the SWA, which is promoted by the Shootclub administrators, league promoters are players of the game, just like you. Any player with at least six (6) months experience playing the game can apply to be one if a position opens.

When a promoter steps down, players will be notified and an admin will begin a thread on the SWA Forum titled "Call for Promoter". Eligible, willing players can post to the thread and announce their candidacy. New promoters are voted in by the current league officers.

A brand new league is opened when the administrators determine that the league numbers are such that another territory is needed to facilitate growth. Players cannot open a league on their own. When there is a need for a new league, a Call for Promoter thread will appear requesting candidates for the new league's office. Candidates for promoters of new leagues have the added responsibility of presenting the league name they would use and if they win, the new promoter also determines the league logo.

Writing skills, storytelling ability, and knowledge of wrestling and booking is needed to be a successful promoter. Players who are vocal, helpful, and reputable in the Shootclub community usually have the edge. By accepting a job as promoter, you are pledging your honor and dependability to the position, the players, and the game. If you falter, you will surely hear about it from other promoters or players.

Promoters and their officials are rewarded for their work and loyalty with perks like free cycles.

Done properly and consistently, a promoter who works in conjunction with the software and the players can increase the interest in their league by leaps and bounds.

What simulator do you use? (Can I get a copy of it?)

The dynamic Shootclub gaming engine, which is the foundation on which the site is based, is completely the creation of the Shootclub Webmaster for SHOOTCLUB.COM. This simulator is what makes Shootclub unique and, thus, is not available for download or sale.

Why is my WIN-LOSS PERCENTAGE not at 100% after going 1-0?

To prevent wild swings in a wrestler's PROJECTED RANKING POINTS score the first 10 matches have a modified percentage. Each wrestler starts at 50% and the score goes up by 5% points for each win and down by 5% points for each loss. After your 10th match, the percentage is calculated using the normal formula of 100 * (Wins + Draws/2)/# of Matches.

Why did my RANKING POINTS go up (or down) by a lot at the end of the cycle? (Or why is WRESTLER XYZ ahead of me after the end of cycle when I had more wins (or roleplay points)?

During each cycle, the RP go up and down by 2 points after each match. At the end of the cycle, these points are thrown out and the "official" Ranking Points for the cycle is calculated. Ranking Points are calculated using the following categories:

0-500 pts. Past Months Score (previous month's RP divided by 2)
0-200 pts. Win-Loss Percentage * 2
0-200 pts. Quality of Opposition * 2
0-100 pts. Roleplaying Points

0-1000 pts. Total

I just cut a promo and didn't show up, what happened?

You probably didn't set the promo to "READY". Click on CUT PROMO in the PlayerZone, scroll down to the bottom and click [Edit Promo] on the promo in question. On the second page, check off that the promo is READY and save it.

My ranking points went down too much this past month for how much I promoed and/or how many matches I won.

Ranking points are based on various statistics. Depending on what statistics you have will determine how high your ranking points become at the end of the cycle. More information about the statistics of Ranking Points can be found HERE.

My wrestler lost to a wrestler with less experience and/or less arsenal points.

It can happen. Matches are determined by the Shootclub software and while having higher XP and a higher arsenal give you the edge in a match, sometimes your opponent can get lucky. Moves are chosen at random from each of the wrestlers' arsenals and there may be times when your opponent gets better draws.

The jerk used my wrestler in his promo and he didn't ask me if he could.

First of all, don't get too angry. If you feel your character was misused, please email the handler that misused him/her. More often than not, the offending handler will understand and will contact you for permission in the future. In Shootclub, it's not unusual for handlers to use other wrestlers in their promos and most will contact you if they wish to try something that may requre permission.

My promoter is ignoring me and is not putting me in shows.

Are you roleplaying? Most promoters have a policy where if a wrestler promos, he/she gets on the show. If you feel your character isn't being used even though you promo regularly, feel free to email the promoter or use the promoter forum.

My promoter is putting his wrestlers in every main event and/or they hold all of the promoter titles.

A touchy subject. If you feel that the promoter isn't doing his job correctly, confront him/her about it using the promoter forum. Please, don't curse him out or anything, but ask him/her to please feature other wrestlers. If the promoter continues using his/her own wrestlers in main events, you have the freedom to leave the league. If everyone in the league doesn't like the way the promoter does things, having everyone leave will definately prove that point.

My promoter hasn't had a show in 2 weeks.

This is much like the above question. Typically, when a promoter doesn't produce a show, he/she has a good reason. And typically, the promoter will resign soon. Sometimes, lack of shows could be the result of a league currently going through a change of promotership. Check the league forums for any information about your promoter's absence. If all else fails, try a different league.
